The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Helsinki is missioned to protect and promote Iranian interests and develop relations with Finland and Estonia through contacts with Finnish and Estonian political, commercial and cultural sectors.

The Embassy also:

  • Explains and advocates the position of the Iranian Government on bilateral and multi-lateral political, economic, social, and cultural issues.
  • Reports to the Iranian Government positions taken in Finland and Estonia on issues of interest to it.
  • Facilitates cultural and educational exchange between Iran and Finland/Estonia.
  • Promotes the sale of Iranian goods and services in Finland and Estonia.
  • Provides protection and documentary services to Iranian citizens, visa and other documentary services to foreign nationals.

Areas of particular interest shared by Iran and Finland include development of human rights, environmental cooperation, drug combating, tourism, development of bilateral trade, and multi-lateral cooperation in the international organizations of which both countries are members.

Commercial Section:

The Commercial Section is responsible for economic and commercial affairs for the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Helsinki. The major responsibility of this section is the promotion of Iranian-Finnish and Iranian-Estonian trade relations, and the expansion of economic ties between Iran and these two countries. Our goal is to provide information on the potentials in the Islamic Republic of Iran and the business opportunities that exists for expanding international economic and trade relations with special emphasize on the non-oil exports of Iran.

Working directly with the Finnish and Estonian relevant ministries and organizations, such as the Department for External Economic Relations at the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Finnish Central Chamber of Commerce, Estonian Chamber of Commerce, Finnish Foreign Trade Association (Finpro), Finnvera, the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs, and many others, the Commercial Section of the Embassy facilitates economic relations and commodity exchanges between Iran and Finland/Estonia.

Commercial Section particularly works directly with the Finnish-Iranian Trade Association, which consists of more than thirty companies. The Association performs different activities including regular meetings in order to provide its members with the latest information about the economic developments in Iran.

Working closely with the Finnish and Estonian companies, the Commercial Section of the Embassy presents them materials and necessary information of their interests and provides facilities for their representatives, who wish to visit Iran for different business reasons.

Cultural Section:


The Cultural Section is responsible for media, cultural, and educational affairs for the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Helsinki. The major responsibility of this section is the promotion of Iranian-Finnish and Iranian-Estonian cultural and educational ties. Working directly with Finnish and Estonian universities, institutions, museums, art galleries etc. it facilitates academic and cultural exchanges.

Cultural Section has close ties with the Finnish Academy of Science, to promote academic exchanges through its scholarships and educational advising.

It has also a very good connection with the Finnish-Iranian Friendship Association, and assists the association in different cultural activities.

Working closely with the Finnish and Estonian print and electronic media, the Cultural Section of the Embassy presents them materials and necessary information of their interests, and provide facilities for journalists and other media representatives who wish to visit Iran on different occasions.
